We are soooo close to the album landing, it's really exciting! If you haven't already noticed in the 12 day countdown to the 26th we've been posting some teaser videos of sections of each of the tracks on the album lovingly crafted by Ella to hopefully share the excitement we are experiencing as launch day beckons.
Speaking of launch day - we've had brilliantly useful information from the good folks at Rough Trade for our load in and sound-check times. I've spoken of the luxury of a proper soundcheck, I think in my two and a bit years with the band (Alan) we've probably only had that once - this time out, we're going to have plenty of time to make sure the sound is just right, dress the room and generally feel confident that we're going to be as prepared as we can be.
We booked the date as a self-imposed deadline to get our collective shit together in assembling our songs and recording them, and perhaps surprised ourselves by completing that process much more quickly than thought. We've had the physical CDs for a while - the tracks are uploaded ready for people to get digitally either via Bandcamp for those of you who like to download, or to the streaming platforms - for someone as impatient as me it's agonising waiting to share our work with folk.
However, we set a date and we need to stick to it. That said, we've shared some tracks with folk who curate music shows, and there's a couple of reviews in the works - with any luck our submissions to BBC Introducing might bear fruit. If any reviewers who are interested in sharing your own thoughts happen upon this blog entry, do reach out to us - we'd love to know what you think!

We've also had some airplay on two awesome streaming music shows - firstly the lovely Dave Vagrant chose a couple of our songs to feature on Round at Milligans, and had lovely things to say which is very humbling. And Naomi/Noz also featured one of our songs, Borderline, on The Rum Muse Sessions - we really appreciate it! If you fancy a sneak peek of what's to come, then you can listen to the shows at the below links:
As for preparation - we have one rehearsal left before the big day. We're in a pretty good place for the live show as many of the album tracks have been live staples for a while, there's a couple that have not featured as much so we want to focus on to make sure we're tight with them too - but it should be a really fun night. It's so exciting to see folk organising meet ups and things before the gig, hopefully we might be able to pop down and join in for a while at least in between soundchecking and sorting out the room!
Other than making sure we remember how to play the songs, the only other meaningful prep we have to factor in is recording a video to drop on launch day, which we'll do tomorrow night when we're all together and then the day itself. Sometimes it's hard to believe it's finally here, it's definitely hard to believe so many people have showed such faith in us by buying ALL the tickets well in advance - we are so grateful and humbled, and can't wait to get the party started with the amazing Shanks' Pony kicking off the live music.
Hopefully see you all there!
